Using Kodi 18.4 with a Diggz Build (Xenon version 19.8.4)
On a Windows 7 PC and an Android 5 (Lollypop) MyGica 1900 Pro Box
I have been using computers since 1985 and I am am a rookie php coder

A friend gave me an android box with kodi 17.6 on it, should I update it to 18?

I would wait about a month. 17.6 still works well and the Kodi team is now working on version 18.1 which fixes a few bugs.
Also, not all of the addons have caught up to the newer version.
It's kind of a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" thing. lol
However, it's really a matter of what you are comfortable with. Nothing horrible will happen if you do upgrade.

Go ahead and UpDate Diggz Xenox and Xenon work great I'm running the new XenoX and it's working fine Check out the Turner JustShowMe videos and you'll be fine you can always trust Diggz using Kodi 18

Just upgraded to Kodi 18.1
I tried installing the 64 bit version but it wouldn't install my Android box so I just used the Google Playstore.
Not a huge visual change, but it does seem faster.
Still playing around with addons to find the ones that work best as scrapers for my Chappa'ai TV Library.
Sticking with Diggz Xenon for now as my build.
