The Kodi Program
#1
For a description of what Kodi is, please see the page; https://www.streamingave.com/kodi.html
Or visit the Kodi website: www.kodi.tv

Kodi is available for: Windows, Linux, Android, Apple (iOS, Mac OSX), Raspberry Pi
You can download it directly from the Kodi website here: https://kodi.tv/download
Android users can download it as an "apk" or install it as an app from the Google Playstore

For previous versions of Kodi, you can download those here: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases
You can also find pre-releases in development, but you install those at your own risk as they are unstable.

If you don't like Kodi, chances are you aren't maintaining it well. An up-to-date setup, with Real Debrid should get you what you want.
Check for updates at least once a month as things change quickly in the world of third party addons.

Current version of Kodi is; 18.5 Leia
If you see someone claiming they have a higher version, ignore them.

Kodi 18.6 "Leia" and Kodi 19 "Matrix" are currently in development.
Kodi 19 is a major rewrite of the coding so there is no current ETA for final release of this version. Updates of Kodi 18 are still being produced.

Updating Kodi is easy.
If you are using a version that is lower than Kodi 18.0 Leia then you are falling behind. Remember Kodi Add-on Developers code their add-ons to work with the most recent version of Kodi. However, you may also have issues updating if you are using an older skin/build that isn't compatible with the current version of Kodi.

In development, Kodi 18.7
There is no ETA of when this will be released, but it will be the next release.
There is no ETA for Kodi 19 Matrix either, but we may not see it until early 2021.

Please do not jump the gun and start using a version in development. They are unstable and unsupported.

Please note:
Kodi Leia updates will not affect your Builds and files. As long as it's within the Leia (18.x) family you have no worries. You only need to be careful when it comes to a major update such as Leia (18.x) to Matrix (19.x).
I will have a new Build version (Daemon 2.01) available for Kodi 19 when it's released.

The Kodi Development Team is now working on Kodi 18.8 which pushes the Kodi 19 release date further into the future.
It could be a couple months before 18.8 is officially released. After that we will see if they start on a 18.9 version or make 18.8 the final version of Kodi Leia.
The only real issue I have with Kodi is it's speed but most of that is due to the fact it has to make multiple connections with multiple websites. The Internet itself creates most of the bottleneck. That still doesn't prevent me from pulling my hair out as I watch a spinning wait icon go round and round and round and round...... Banghead

Kodi 18.8 is now available direct from the Kodi website.
Remember new versions of Kodi take a bit of time to show up on the app stores.

This looks like the last version of Kodi 18 Leia unless 18.8 has a serious bug.
Kodi 19 Matrix will be the next release. The Alpha version is getting the team's full attention now. Alpha versions are basically a completed framework of the program, but still unstable and not recommended for end users. Most add-on developers will wait until it reaches Beta version before creating a compatible version of their add-on. Beta versions are full versions but still have bugs that can crash the program. It's meant for Beta Testers who are looking for bugs the developers haven't noticed.
